Kelp GRANULES, (Shaker Jar), 1.5oz - Maine Coast Sea Vegetables

A serving of 1/4 tsp will provide approximately 3mg of iodine, or 20 times the RDA.
Low sodium Kelp Granules in a sprinkle-on Sea Seasonings 1.5 oz shaker add a little saltiness, a little heat and lots of nutrition. Kelp Granules are "salty" yet low sodium thanks to the rich complement of potassium, magnesium and other mineral salts. Kelp Granules are especially rich in potassium, iron, iodine, Vitamin B-6, Riboflavin, and dietary fiber. Kelp also contains a natural substance that enhances flavor and tenderizes. Phytochemicals in Kelp have been shown to absorb and eliminate radioactive elements and heavy metal contaminants from our bodies. Kelp Granules are a convenient way to get your sea veggies in the kitchen, at the table, or on the road. Sprinkle on soups, salads, tofu, pasta, stir-fries, dressings, dips, sauces, breads, and tabouli. Get the nutritional benefits of sea veggies and skip the table salt. Our Kelp for granules is sustainably harvested and certified organic by QAI. We also voluntarily test for heavy metals, herbicides, pesticides, PCB's, fuel oil, and microbiological contaminants. Certified Organic but not a Raw Food. Available in 1.5oz shakers only.
Many customers have expressed concerns about radioactivity in our products due to recent events in Japan, and we share these concerns. We are working with University of Maine scientists to test for radioactivity in both fresh and dried samples from the 2011 harvest, as well as dried samples from 2010 for comparison. We are committed to regularly sampling and testing for radioactivity in our sea vegetables. To date, all samples have shown no indication of radioactivity above natural, background levels. As we are not radiation experts, we are lucky to work with a University team that includes a specialist in environmental radioactivity and a specialist in marine algae. The sensitive chamber test they use shows not only the amounts of radiation in each sample but also any radionuclides involved. We are also developing an ongoing testing program for the months and possibly years to come.
In the wake of the disasters in Japan, we are experiencing the interconnectedness of all life, as well as physical and chemical processes, on our planet. One thing we are learning is that radiation is a natural part of life on earth—we cannot fully escape it. For example, radiation comes naturally from rocks, soil, dust, air, the sun, the galaxy, etc., in addition to man-made radiation from nuclear testing, nuclear accidents and medical procedures. We are all exposed to some background radiation every day.
It’s also important to remember that sea vegetables have well-documented nutritional and healing qualities, which include helping to protect our bodies from the effects of radiation. The abundant iodine in sea veggies helps to prevent our bodies from taking up radioactive iodine. Alginates, fucoidan and other compounds, especially in brown sea veggies such as kelp, alaria, bladderwrack and rockweed, can actually bind to radionuclides and help our bodies excrete them.
