When we start to improve our diet by eliminating harmful processed foods completely from our intake, it can often feel very challenging, and the heavier, more satiating foods can be very helpful for aiding our transition into a Whole Foods Diet. What is Tinkyada Pasta?
Tinkyada is a brand name of a gluten-free pasta and is made from only one ingredient; brown rice. We have this pasta available in all sizes, shapes, and forms, including spaghetti, penne, spiral, lasagna, fusilli, fettuccine, elbow, grand shell, lil dream for kids, and so on.
There are so many gluten-free pastas on the market, so I wanted to thoroughly research why Fred always recommends the Tinkyada brand, and I totally found out why! ;-)
Before we started to carry the Tinkyada pasta brand, I spent countless hours researching every single gluten-free pasta I could find on the market. Tinkyada is the only single-ingredient pasta I encountered. Every single other gluten-free pasta on the market includes corn, which to me is very unappealing for various reasons, whether it is "claimed" non-GMO or not, due to concerns of cross-contamination and so on. Furthermore, more than half of the other gluten-free pastas had other weird ingredients in them, such as isolates, soy, diglycerids, and assorted other unpronounceables.
Every single one of these Tinkyada Pasta products that we now stock contain just one or two ingredients, depending on which item you choose. The ingredients are either just brown rice, or brown rice with brown rice bran.
What is Brown Rice Bran?
Rice bran is the brown part of the rice that comes off when they are making white rice. It's the outer edges! :-) It contains various antioxidants that are beneficial for human health. It is also particularly rich in dietary fiber, essential fatty acids, and contains significant quantities of protein, vitamins, minerals, and tocotrienals (a form of Vitamin E). It's pretty much the "good stuff" of the brown rice ;-)

The Tinkyada Pasta is heavier and more satiating than the Mung Bean and Black Bean Pastas that we brought to you a few months ago. The Tinkyada Pastas are probably one of the heaviest and most satiating foods that a person can eat on a Whole Foods Diet. I love that there are heavier foods like this that are satiating while at the same time healthy to the human body. For those of us who have a difficult time eliminating processed foods from our diet, these pastas can help us detoxify at a slower rate and can also help us with the emotional issues that come up when improving one's diet.
The Tinkyada Pastas aren't for everyone though of course. For example, if you are on a 100% Raw Food Diet, then you would have no use for this pasta that requires cooking. This pasta would also probably feel too heavy for you, if you've adapted to eating only fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds and you'd most likely not feel well after eating it. It’s similar to if someone has eliminated all fast food and processed foods from their diet and are adapted to a Whole Foods Diet: they just know that eating a McDonalds Hamburger and Fries would leave them not feeling well. Therefore, I feel that these pastas are ideal for someone who is either on a cooked Whole Foods Diet or for anyone eating processed foods on the Standard American Diet, as a great, healthy alternative to standard wheat pasta!

STOVE-TOP COOKING INSTRUCTION:Put one package of pasta into 4 quarts (3.78 liters) of boiling water and add a tablespoon of salt (do not add salt if on a sodium-free diet). Stir occasionally and cook for 11-13 minutes until desired tenderness is reached. Rinse with cold water. Drain well. If stir-fry, rid surface moisture and let rest for 5-10 minutes for best results. Can be served hot or warm with any kind of pasta sauce or in your favorite pasta recipes, in hot soup, in salad, stir-fried, or as a casserole. Use it as you would any regular pasta.
QUICK & ENERGY-SAVING COOKING: Cook 1 to 2 minutes in boiling water. Switch off stove. Cover pot for about 20 minutes.
